Mary Sasser joined the Office of the Texas State Chemist (OTSC) in September 2010. As Manager of Field Operations, she manages a team of fourteen Feed and Fertilizer Control Service (FFCS) Field Investigators who provide “boots on the ground” regulatory oversight for the Texas feed and fertilizer industries across the state. Mary leads the implementation of the annual plan of work for the Office of the Texas State Chemist, and oversees the One Sample Strategy, an aflatoxin risk management program for corn distributors in Texas.
Mary received a BSc in Bioenvironmental Sciences from Texas A&M University and a Master of Applied Science in Technology Management from University of Denver. Her previous work includes educational and training activities such as the online Feed Industry HACCP courses taught by OTSC Director and State Chemist, Dr. Tim Herrman; development and administration of online courses for the Regulatory Science Graduate Certificate; and support for the International Journal of Regulatory Science. Before joining the Office she served as Distance Education Coordinator for the Texas A&M University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
